United Healthcare PPO Dual Coverage

United Healthcare PPO Dual Coverage

If you have United Healthcare PPO dental insurance coverage and additional coverage under another insurance plan, this can lower your dental copay. Sunnyvale Dentist Dr. Gupta is a United Healthcare PPO in network provider.

Perhaps you have a United Healthcare PPO dental insurance plan that has been provided by your employer and another dental insurance policy. Some children are covered by both parents’ insurance plans. The two insurance companies will work together to cover a large portion of your dental treatment. Whether you have two dental insurance policies from the same carrier, or have policies from two different companies, the combined amount paid by both carriers will not go over the amount billed by Sunnyvale Dental Care.

In standard coordination of benefits if your composite filling is covered at 90% by the primary insurance company, the secondary policy would cover the 10% that you would have had to pay if covered by only one plan. Sometimes insurance plans have what is called a non-duplication of benefits rule. If each policy covers fillings at 70% and the primary insurance plan has paid its 70%, the secondary insurance plan wouldn’t make any additional payments.

The Sunnyvale Dental Care insurance specialist will be glad to contact United Healthcare PPO insurance and any additional insurance company to see how each carrier will be coordinating your insurance benefits.

Unfortunately you cannot decide in which order each insurance company will be billed and neither can we. Generally, the dental insurance provided for you through your job is your primary policy. If two employers provide coverage, the insurance company that you contracted with first is your primary insurer. Coverage from a source other than your employer would be secondary coverage.

We will submit all dental claims for you. After the primary dental insurance pays their portion of your claim, it will then be sent to the secondary dental insurance. Most patients with primary and secondary dental insurance have minimal, and sometimes no out of pocket expense for dental treatment if they have not exceeded their annual benefit amount.

Receiving treatment from Sunnyvale Dentist Dr. Gupta will reduce your patient copay. This is because he follows the United Healthcare PPO fee schedule which has fees that are less than his regular office fees.
