United HealthCare Dental Insurance Plans carry a plan maximum. This is the total dollar amount provided for you to use for dental care during a benefit period, which is typically one calendar year or 12 consecutive months, renewing on your dental insurance plan renewal date. United HealthCare maximums differ based on the plan chosen by you or your employer and often range from $2500 per benefit period to $1000 on the lower end. Some treatments, such as cosmetic and elective procedures, such as whitening and veneers, are not covered and therefore do not deduct from your maximum. Treatment rendered will fall into one of several categories and costs are covered at specific percentages. For example, a filling may be covered at 80 % and so only that amount is deducted from your maximum. You will pay the additional 20%.
United HealthCare has a deductible requirement prior to dental insurance benefits taking affect. This is a payment to be made by you before United HealthCare Company start paying for your dental expenses. Like maximums, the deductible will renew on your plan’s renewal date. But, its’ important to know that not all procedures require a deductible and we will inform you when one is due.
